Dismal Haiku

what the water knows

the water will never tell

You'd have to be there

a teeny ode for my sister, the Dismal

constantly in my blood, for we breathe with the same breath

We respire each other.

A paternal link, peat moss in my very DNA, water filtered through her cells sustains my own.

it is the closest, but it is not the end... She and me the two of us we... are part of the whole.

Cypress Tree

beneath still waters

entwined roots and fish mingle

only seems lonely

Storms Anew

The air rises in the coming storm
Sweeping over the sleeping people
Blowing cool through the open windows

Amphibian swamp symphonies
Harmonize with insectual sexuality
Calling in joyous earthy rapture for the rain

In a sudden hush the bog's lush life
Stops to reckon the quickening lightning
Riding on the heat of a spent day

A tap and a pat pittered down
On leaves at first, then hits the ground
The swamp gives way to the sound of
                        ssssshhhhhhhhhh 
All abrupt, life erupts outside the house
As within when wind lashes the water splatters
Shatters the easy dreams of sleeping beings

Awake, awake with you
look at what I can do
I put on a show for you to view

Anew, Anew you in the blue light of my fury
watch me wash your dusty world
And give you life, anew.

Skinny Dip

Sultry, still swamp air - blanketing her skin

heat opening pores - sweat, nowhere to go.

Forming rivulets - showing where it's been

Before she jumps in - she tests with her toe.

Goodnight Moon

The moonrise for the past three nights
       makes my inner lunatic tremble

for it's beloved

       spilling into the cold swamp night air

thrilling with her reflection

in the shallow black
